A Legacy of Excellence
Siniya’s Football Dominance and the Return of Legends
For many of you, the early 1990s may feel like a distant past. Some were not yet born, while others were mere toddlers. However, for those who witnessed it, that era remains a golden chapter in Siniya’s legacy. Siniya was not just a leader in academics and discipline; it was a force to reckon with on the soccer scene.
One of the most unforgettable moments in Siniya’s history took place in March 1994 at Kabale Municipal Stadium, when Siniya ruthlessly dismantled its fiercest rival, Kigezi High School, with a staggering 13-0 victory. It was a performance that cemented Siniya’s dominance and left an indelible mark on the football landscape.

The Icons of Siniya Football
The team that took the pitch in those years was nothing short of legendary. Guided by the strategic leadership of Deputy Headteacher Mr. Barigye, the squad featured names that became folklore in Siniya’s football annals:
- Sebuhoro, the legendary goalkeeper who later starred in the Rwanda Super League, was a formidable last line of defense. His presence on the pitch mirrored that of Peter Rufai, Nigeria’s national team shot-stopper of the time.
- Odankie Mucunguzi, Sebuhoro’s deputy, who later took his rightful place between the posts at Kigezi High School’s Rugarama.
- Kibedi, the fierce and agile striker whose mere presence was a nightmare for defenders.
- Roberto aka Omusiiza, the lightning-fast forward from Mbarara, known for his unmatched pace when chasing through balls.
- Vialli Beinomugisha, the midfield maestro whose quick feet and dazzling skills made him a favorite of both teammates and opponents. He later moved to Kibuli SS and played in the Uganda Super League for SC Villa.
- Iga Fahd Bukenya, a multi-talented athlete who dominated short-distance running and was a key figure in the football team, winning Kabale District’s Sportsman of the Year for two consecutive years.
- Bukenya Rogers, the formidable defender, school DJ, and Lumumba B3 House Prefect, known for his no-nonsense approach on the pitch.
As time went on, a new generation of stars—Muzito, Chonchobo, Ahimbiz, Mwesigwa Ronnie, Ali, Kamoga, and Taza—took over, ensuring Siniya’s football excellence continued.
The Return of Legends
Over time, the memories of these teams have faded, and many wish for those iconic team photos to relive those golden moments. However, on Sunday, March 9, 2025, history will come alive as Siniya League Season 2 kicks off at Grit Sports Hub, Kikaya.

In characteristic fashion, Chwezi FC, The Home of the Legends will rekindle this legacy by fielding at least three of these legendary players. It will be a rare opportunity for both young and old to witness the greatness that once defined Siniya football.
Do not miss the start of Siniya League Season 2. Be part of history. Be part of the legacy.
