Siniya Day 2024

The excitement is building as Kigezi College Butobere, affectionately known as Siniya, prepares to welcome back its cherished annual Homecoming event—Siniya Day. This prestigious boys’ school in Kabale Municipality, established in 1957, has a proud tradition of academic excellence and character development. Organized by The Siniya Alumni Forum an Old Boys’ Association, which succeeded Siniya Old Boys’ Association (SOBA) in 2011, Siniya Day has become a cornerstone event for the school community. This year, on Saturday, 28th September 2024, the focus of Siniya Day will be on the Siniya Academic Fund—an initiative of the Kigezi College Butobere Board of Governors aimed at significantly enhancing academic performance and ensuring the school’s financial stability.

Kigezi College Butobere has faced significant challenges in recent years, grappling with declining student numbers and poor academic performance. These issues have been attributed to factors such as indiscipline and inadequate funding for essential academic and administrative costs. Recognizing these challenges, the Board of Governors developed the Siniya Academic Fund, a strategic initiative to revitalize the school by engaging the support of Old Boys, well-wishers, corporate bodies, organizations, and the government.

The average school fees per term for each student is Uganda shillings six hundred thousand (UGX 600,000) only. This implies that we shall have 80 students, also called beneficiaries, paying UGX 600,000 per term (an academic year has 3 terms) for two years, resulting in a total of UGX 288,800,000 (Two hundred eighty-eight million, eight hundred thousand shillings). This money will come from 120 committed well-wishers who will voluntarily contribute UGX 100,000 per month for 24 months, totalling UGX 12,000,000 per month, which will be deposited in the dedicated school Stanbic Bank Account.
